Vegas From the Hip & We Will Survive | Las Vegas Travel Photographer

2011 brought something new for me as a photographer. I took a leap of faith early in the year and entered a open call for an art exhibit called “Vegas From the Hip“. I entered 2 photos and 1 was accepted for the exhibit (the one above).  The exhibit ran for several weeks at the Nevada State College and even garnered a few write ups in the Vegas Seven and Las Vegas Weekly magazines.

Shortly after the exhibit ended, I received an email asking if I would be willing to allow my photo to be used in an upcoming exhibit and benefit auction at the Marjorie Barrick Museum at UNLV entitled “We Will Survive“. I’m not sure the exhibit and auction were successful at “Saving the Barrick” but it was an honor to be asked to participate.

Stepping out of my comfort zone and entering a photo in an exhibit wasn’t as painful as I expected. Perhaps I shall do it again in 2012!
